WordCamp Melbourne 2011: Kim Ong, Life Blogger

As I mingled amongst the attendees of WordCamp Melbourne 2011, from the corner of my eye I spotted Kim Ong laughing whilst a growing crowd of WordCamp attendees surrounded her. Instantly curious, I approached Kim to introduce myself. It wasn’t long before I experienced firsthand the reason why Kim was so popular; she was magnetic.

Despite being a cover girl for Clive magazine and appearances in FHM, Hello!, and The Star, Kim finds her passion in life blogging. Having blogged since 2003, I sat down with Kim to learn more about her passion and for some advice on life blogging.

Through blogging you meet like-minded people of similar interests.

On life blogging:

I think being a blogger you have to be prepared [when sharing]. The first thing I’m definitely not into is being an anonymous blogger. I think people can relate to a real person. I’m real, this is me, [and] this is what I have to offer… I’m very careful about the things I put out there… I think it is very important to have that balance.

On blogging advice:

Blog because you enjoy blogging and don’t blog because you have to blog and you tell yourself, “I have to blog at least one entry a day.” The moment you do that you will just lose passion in blogging so blog because of passion.
