WordCamp: Developers is a new kind of WordCamp, designed specifically for advanced users and WordPress developers. It is scheduled for May 5, 2011, in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
Organized by popular WordPress developers, Vanessa Chu, Kulpreet Singh, Anny Chih, and Morten Rand-Hendriksen, they have just announced a call for speakers specializing in jQuery, HTML5, CSS3, information architecture, WordPress Theme development and framework, mobile, ecommerce, content aggregation, blog networks (multi-user), BuddyPress, multimedia integration, security, user management, and building WordPress Plugins.
The conference will feature two tracks on WordPress UX and development issues. It will also feature an unconference. The WordCamp:Developers conference will happen during the popular Vancouver Open Source Week.

Thanks for picking up on this story so fast Lorelle. We’d love to see you at our event. More info to come shortly.
A WordCamp purely for WordPress developers? How interesting.
I’m curious as to why they chose to go down this route. What about the average WordPress user who wants to participate?
Great question Jesse. There’s quite a long process behind this. There is a large and growing community of developers who use WordPress as the base for advanced websites. For many of these developers the “regular” WordCamps are becoming too basic. That’s not a problem in itself – the WordCamp concept was designed to create a meeting ground for everyone who uses WordPress – but we have realized there is a need for a more developer focused conference where the talks are coined towards people who work with WordPress as a development platform and not simply as a tool to publish content on the web.
WordCamp:Developers is a developer focused conference with two tracks: UX and Dev and a side-track with an ad-hoc conference space. We welcome anyone to attend, but the talks and presentations at the conference will be focused on how to design, build and customize WordPress-based websites as well as other more advanced programming topics like CSS3, HTML5, PHP and JavaScript integration.
